“Outstanding” chef-owner Daniel Patterson “leads the charge for molecular gastronomy” at this paean to “el Bulli”, proffering a “stupendous” 11-course Cal-French “feast for the taste buds and the mind” amid a “minimalist” backdrop (set in a “dodgy” part of North Beach); the “scents-as-courses” and “too coy” presentations occasionally “provoke giggles from guests”, but die-hards assure that even in “hard-knock times”, it’s “worth saving your dollars to eat here”; N.B. dishes may be ordered à la carte in the lounge.
